It is our pleasure to invite you to join us at the biennial meeting of the International Association for the Study of the Liver Congress (IASL 2019) which is co-organized by Chinese Foundation for Hepatitis Prevention and Control (CFHPC) and China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange ( CISTE ). It will be held in Beijing China from 21^st-23^rd June 2019.

IASL is one of the oldest international organizations fighting against liver and biliary tract diseases. It was established in 1958, aiming to train experts in hepatology; encourage basic and clinical research; facilitate internationally the prevention, recognition and treatment of diseases of the liver and biliary tract.

In the past 60 years, there has been a huge change in the landscape of hepatobiliary diseases. Investigators have written the story of hepatitis C from discovery to cure which not only one day will eradicate HCV, but also encourages those who are working hard to develop a hepatitis B cure.

At the same time, advances in cancer immunology have been translated to immunotherapies for liver cancer, which significantly improve survival. Although it is still a long way to cure liver cancer, the concept of turning a fatal disease into a chronic condition has been raised.

There are also important advancements in diagnosis and management of other liver diseases, such as NAFLD/NASH, cholestatic liver diseases, fibrosis and complications of cirrhosis. In this two-day conference, we will highlight all these remarkable developments with the latest research data and how they can be applied in our daily practice to improve patient care.

CFHPC was established in 1996 with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It aimed to raise the public awareness of hepatitis and liver disease; create a platform for academic exchanges and education; promote the latest scientific advancement via scientific conferences, not only domestically but also in cooperation with international organizations. Thus, it is a perfect match for IASL and CFHPC to co-organize IASL 2019 in Beijing. We have assembled an outstanding scientific committee of world leaders to develop the highest quality interactive scientific program. Apart from the invited lectures which tell you what is happening in the world, we treasure the opportunity to see what you have done. You are thus encouraged to submit abstracts and share your findings and experience.
